Who Am I ?
“I once was broken, scared and alone, I was lost and had no home, until my Savior came and changed my way. He renamed me and made me a new array. For when I look into the mirror, I am no longer afraid but Redeemed, Revived, and Re-loved.”

Topic Of The Day: Who Am I? ( Conquering Insecurities)
Ephesians 6:10-14 (NIV)
“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,”
Now, I’m going to be really open and transparent with you all on this topic. We all have insecurities about something, whether it’s our body, school, job status, or dealing with relationships with people. The battle of insecurities feels as though you’re trapped in a cell that no one around can get you out of, spirally further down into a deep dark abyss. So, let’s ask ourselves these questions, have I ever felt less-than, have I felt incompetent around people who seem to excel in the desired area I’ve dreamed to soar in, and lastly have I ever looked in the mirror in distaste and confusion trying to figure out what everyone else sees that I have failed to see.”
Just to share a little bit, that last one truly hit home for me. Constantly doubting and beating up myself because I was comparing myself to someone who seemed to have it all. Even after being told and complemented by numerous people that I was enough while having many accomplishments, yet inside my mind in the deepest, darkest parts where it was just me and no ones else I truly didn’t believe anything that was being told to me. I had convinced myself that what was being told to me, was simply people trying to be nice, these individual couldn’t possibly mean it, right? Yet during this time in my life, what I failed to understand was I feeding the insecurities, while trying to fight it all alone without asking any help from God.
So, ask yourself am I unknowingly feeding the enemy? Are we allowing Satan to use false ideas and unwelcoming circumstances to control our lives? In John 10:10 it says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The thief that the Bible is referring to is Satan, he uses theses notions ( insecurities) to destroy what God is trying to build inside of you. The mind is a dangerous place, if you do not allow God to be in control. If we’re being completely real, we become somewhat like actors, burying ourselves inside while on the outside portraying as a person we’re not. The fake techniques we learn such as flashing that “perfect smile”, displaying our bubbly personality, or even encouraging others through their insecurities, only to get behind closed doors and have another emotional break down. We as humans all encounter insecurities, being unsatisfied with how we look, how people view us, or how life circumstances turned out. However, have we ever consider how God views us in Genesis 1:26-27 it states, “26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
If God viewed any of us less than, He wouldn’t have created us in His image! Yet, He found us worthy the flaws you see in the mirror, God doesn’t see them, while the world sees you undesirable, God thinks otherwise and finds you immaculate. “ God came so that we may have life, and life more abundantly” ( John 10:10). We are every spitting image of God, and He doesn’t make mistakes, meaning you’re not a mistake. The people we think that have it all, are the same individuals battling for sanity on the inside. Yet no one knows, their social media paints this picture that they’re “ living their best life” when in reality their best life is literally just trying to stay alive. Satan has been using insecurities since the beginning of time to bondage people from fulfilling what God has already preordained for our lives. News flash, this was never meant for us, insecurities were never apart of God’s plan for anyone’s life. God would never intentionally make us feel ashamed or less-than about ourselves, Colossians 3:12 tells us to “ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved…” know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made ( Psalm 139:12). In God, we can find worth and reassurance in who we are through Him ( Ephesians 3:12) and remember you are more than capable for the plan He has for you ( Philippians 1:6). So, when you feel yourself beginning to sink back in the sunken place remind yourself how God sees you.
Alright ladies and gents before we conclude let’s have a “Real Talk Moment”. As we search out and find who God say we are, I encourage all of us to use affirmations to instill the promises He speaks over us. When I became a teenager, more insecurities began forming in my life. Now, my dad always seem to know when I was distant or down. Each time he would ask me,“ Who Are You?” Immediately, I knew what that meant and I’m going to tell you the response I had to give him. So let’s do a biblical roleplay for a second, paint the picture, life has been hitting you hard lately and your self worth is depleting, and God comes to ask you, “ Who Are You?” Go to your mirror, look at all the flaws, write down your insecurities and ask yourself, “ Who Am I?” Now tell yourself, “ I AM ( insert your name) and I will walk in integrity and love in Jesus Christ. I will stand against the insecurities for I am not what the devil says I am but what God says I am. I will fight and be what God has for me. I am somebody, I am a child of the most high God, and with His help I will not fall any longer to my insecurities!”
Begin to stand on what you’re telling yourself, words are VERY powerful, what you speak on yourself is what will come forth. Only speak positive affirmations for your spirit, and never allow anyone to speak anything negative over you. Even if they say “ they’re joking”, don’t allow others to have control over your life. Insecurities is a costly endeavor, my friends forget what everybody else is doing, because what God has for them is for them, let’s focus on what God has for YOU!
WHO ARE YOU?
We’re all called to make a difference, so go out and do amazing things.
